Old Dunleary holds a special place in the hearts of all those who have grown up here or spent time enjoying our town’s special character, life and history. As part of the Dún Laoghaire Christmas Festival the BID, with support from Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, organised the Dún Laoghaire Town Reunion Night as a celebration of the urban cultural heritage of our town.

At the event in celebration of its unique heritage An Leas Cathaoirleach Mary Fayne launched the “You Know You’re From Dún Laoghaire When” info-graphic at The Purty Kitchen as part of the Dún Laoghaire Town Reunion Night. With a nominal €5 entry contribution per head, €150 was collected at the door for Focus Ireland (Receipt Here).

The infographic pays homage to Dún Laoghaire Town, sharing special memories about the cultural institutions of Dún Laoghaire Town, which is now rapidly evolving into a vibrant cultural and business hub.

Placemaking for Dun Laoghaire – Dun Laoghaire Town Reunion Night was an initiative of Dún Laoghaire BID as part of their placemaking strategy for branding the town as an experiential destination to new visitors and those with a past connection to the town.

Reminiscing special memories – All memories come with a good story and there was no shortage of that on the night. Whether it be deciding “between the Miami or the Ritz for your first date” or remembering “Ann’s Hot Bread Shop having the best coffee in town, where breakfast was only £1.99”, Dún Laoghaire Town has a special place in the hearts of people who have experienced its unique charm and character.

The Purty Kitchen – Your Friday night haunt, where you had your first pint or went to your first gig. An establishment nearly as old as the town itself.
